Q: How can acupuncture treat reproductive
problems?
A: In the treatment of reproductive concerns, acupuncture begins
most often by balancing our body endocrine system through the unblocking of
energy based on individual pattern diagnosis. As opposed to commonly used
therapies by Western medicine that can be invasive or cause side effects,
acupuncture will do neither. This is not to say the acupuncture is
recommended in place of Western medicine, but is a great adjunct where
Western medicine treatments impose significant stress on the body or provide
ineffective treatment.
Q: What is
Acupuncture?
A: Acupuncture is a therapeutic method that
originated from China and has been practiced for about 3000 years. It
involves inserting thin hair-like needles into selective key points on the
surface of the body, to encourage natural healing, balance the body's vital
energy, relieve pain, cure disease, increase immunity and improve function
of the body.
Q: How does acupuncture work?
A: The classical Chinese explanation is that illness results from
imbalances or blockages in a person's energy meridians. The flow of energy
is restored, when acupuncture needles stimulate certain points within those
meridians. Acupuncture stimulates the body to produce pain relieving
chemicals called endorphins or other naturally occurring chemicals and
hormones that affect mood, health and pain perception. Many conditions can
be treated
Q: Does
acupuncture hurt?
A: Most people are surprised and relieved to learn that acupuncture
needles are extremely thin (and made from stainless steel) and completely
unlike the hypodermic needles you’ve seen at the doctor's office. Our
needling technique is very gentle, and we work closely with you to make sure
your experience is a comfortable and positive one. Most patients experience
a profound sense of relaxation and wellbeing during and after the treatment.
All in all, acupuncture treatment provides an energizing while
simultaneously calming experience.
Q: Is
acupuncture safe?
A: Originating in China thousands of years ago, acupuncture has
currently become the treatment of choice for one-fourth of the world's
population. The needles are FDA approved, individually packaged,
pre-sterilized and disposed of after a single use. There is no possibility
of the transmission of communicable disease from patient to patient. There
are no contraindications. It is totally 100% safe!
Q: How many treatments will be required?
A: The number of treatments will vary with each individual and the
condition being treated. For acute problems, only a few treatments may be
required. For complex or long-standing conditions, one or two treatments a
week for several months may be recommended. For health maintenance, once
every two weeks or a month may be recommended.
Q: What should
I expect from my first visit and treatment?
A: Your acupuncturist will conduct a comprehensive evaluation at your
first appointment, focusing on your health history and current concerns.
Following your initial consultation, your first acupuncture treatment will
be administered. You may experience an immediate, total or partial relief
from symptoms. In general, the treatment of gynecological pathology is best
achieved over a course of time usually spanning several months, depending on
your age, the severity of the issue and the amount of time that the health
concern has been manifest as well as your overall health. You will
experience an intensity of energy and a sense of wellbeing and healing which
results from the rebalancing of energy, making you look forward to future
treatments.
Q: How many
treatments will I need?
A: Since every person is unique, the numbers of treatments will vary.
The nature, severity and history of each patient's condition are all factors
that are involved in determining how many treatments will be necessary. For
chronic conditions, successful treatment can take from one to six months. A
treatment plan will be given to you at the conclusion of your evaluation.
In general, for purposes of prevention, regular weekly sessions release the build-up of daily pressure and tension and helps to prevent a multitude of stress related problems. For the treatment of conditions, the number of sessions varies, depending upon the nature of the individual problem. Usually, two treatments per week will be necessary, decreasing in frequency as the condition improves.
Q: What is cupping?
A: This method is where fire is introduced inside a glass cup in order
to release air to create a negative pressure and then place the cup on the
skin surface. It is warm and open the blockage of meridians, in order to
circulate Qi and blood, to dispel cold-damp, to draw toxins out. The cupping
method is used to treat obstruction syndromes, such as pain in the low back,
shoulders and legs, cough, asthma ....

balance the body's Yin and Yang and invigorate Qi and blood. Usually doctors
put several herbs together to make an herbal formula based on the patient's
condition. The most common method for taking herbal medicine, is for a

A: Many couples who have difficulty conceiving a child by traditional methods often employ various techniques to assist them in the reproductive process. The most common assisted reproduction therapy is in-vitro fertilization (IVF), in which a woman’s eggs are harvested and fertilized with a man’s sperm in a laboratory. In cases where a male’s sperm count is extremely low, a different procedure known as intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) may be used.
Although assisted reproduction techniques like IVF and ICSI have been in use since the 1970s, they are still something of an inexact science. Success rates for each therapy range from as low as 1% to as high as 50%, and a successful pregnancy depends on a variety of factors, including the age of the woman, the cause of infertility, and the skill of the technician performing the procedure. Acupuncture is a useful tool for patients looking to increase their chances of becoming pregnant following assisted reproduction therapy.
Two teams of researchers in Germany and China have found that adding acupuncture to the treatment regimen of women using assisted reproductive techniques to have a child can dramatically improve the woman’s chances of getting pregnant by up to 20%. In these women the chosen acupuncture points were those that relax the uterus according to the principles of TCM. This greatly increased the chances of getting pregnant because acupuncture has a great influence on the autonomic nervous system and needling specific points would optimized endometrial receptivity in these women
