nearly a decade after her 25-year-old daughter vanished without a trace, lillian morgan's long wait for answers is finally over. dental records have confirmed that a skull and seven bones recovered from a clogged sewer in roy wilkins park in queens last week are those of margaret morgan. the cause of death: homicide by unknown means. "i've done my crying," lillian morgan, 70, said yesterday. "i'm elated because i don't have to go to my grave not knowing what happened." the victim had attended st. catherine of siena grammar school and mary louis academy before moving briefly to sumter, s.c., where she was a debutante. she returned to new york in the early 1980s and attended st. john's university for two years. but when margaret ed hardy, mother of a then-2-year-old son, was last seen july 2, 1988, she reportedly was smoking crack at a house party near the springfield gardens park where her remains would be later found. "until the age of 20, i never had a problem with her," her mother said. "i feel god thought she was getting into too much and took her." shortly after the disappearance, morgan asked one of margaret's friends if she knew her whereabouts. the friend began to cry. several months later, the mother received an anonymous call that her daughter had been murdered. "i guess she was right." she told the cops that her daughter had disappeared in the area and went home to get margaret's dental x-rays, kept in a plain envelope. family members plan to break the news soon to the victim's son, who lives with relatives in pennsylvania.
